Kangaroo Conservation Center – A Little Taste of Australia Just North of Atlanta

Until last year, I had no idea the largest collection, pack, bunch mob of kangaroos outside of Australia lived right here near Atlanta.  To be specific they’re all at the Kangaroo Conservation Center in Dawsonville, GA just a few minutes north of the Dawson Outlet Malls.

Nestled on 87 acres in Dawson County, the Kangaroo Conservation Center is just miles from the Appalachian Trail and sits quietly in the smallest foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

Starting with it’s headquarters, Australia Station, the Kangaroo Conservation Center uses plenty of Australian motifs.  You’ll shop for gifts at the Aussie Outpost, see a blue-winged kookaburra in the Wings Downunder Aviary, and experience a real billabong (watering hole)!

Not to mention there are over 300 kangaroos (and other Australian animals), so visit their Kangaroo website to find out how to take a tour!
